Matt Bertani is currently the Assistant Coach for South Korea's Men's National Team. Matt has coached in IIHF DIV 1A world championships in Kazakhstan placing third as well as other international tournaments in Budapest and Pyeongchang. He currently works along side 2 time Stanley Cup winner and former Pittsburgh Penguin Jim Paek. Matt assists in skill development and runs the defense. Along with the National Team duties, Matt and Jim will be running the South Korea U-20, which won gold medal at 2020 IIHF Div 2B World Championships, and U-18 Men's National Teams as well.
Matt was also a six year Assistant Coach for the New York Islander's (National Hockey League) Organization. His duties included skill development, video analysis, and practice planning for the New York Islanders, as well as the video analysis of opponents.
Matt was hired by the Sound Tigers (American Hockey League) on July 28, 2008. His duties included all of the team's video analysis of opponents, skill development and assisting in practice plans.
Bertani served as an assistant coach at Penn State University since 2005, and was the Director of Recruiting while monitoring the team's player development. Before his years at "Happy Valley," Bertani served as an assistant coach with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL for two years.
